Stephanie I. Thomopoulos

Stephanie I. Thomopoulos is president and founder of GeriatriCare® Management, Inc., a private care management firm founded in 1994 that provides individualized services to the elderly and disabled. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1988 and her master's degree in social work from the Catholic University of America in 1990.

Ms. Thomopoulos is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. She is also a Certified Care Manager (CMC) and a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager (CASWCM) by the National Association of Social Workers. She is currently a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the Aging Life Care Association, and the Virginia Guardianship Association. Stephanie is a past president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (2006–2009). Ms. Thomopoulos is licensed, trained, and certified to administer and score the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the Brief Cognitive Assessment Tool (BCAT). Ms. Thomopoulos has served as an expert witness in geriatric services in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

Ms. Thomopoulos has extensive experience working with the elderly and disabled. After receiving her master's degree in social work, she worked at several local hospitals as a discharge planner; in addition, she worked at several local nursing homes and retirement communities as director of Social Services.

Juyong Lee Armstrong

MSW, CMC, QMHP

As a child in South Korea, Juyong witnessed the importance and significance of having a good quality of life as one ages by seeing firsthand her parents providing care to their parents. While interning at Birmingham Green Nursing Home while studying for her master's degree in social work, she grew even more fond of the elderly population and developed a strong passion for assisting with ensuring their comfort and quality of life as they aged. After receiving her master's degree in social work, Juyong worked as a care manager at Inova ElderLink, developing comprehensive care plans for older adults, assisting in obtaining available services, and monitoring her clients to ensure appropriate care and services.

Dana Gardiner

Care Manager Assistant/Friendly Visitor

Dana is certified as a personal fitness trainer by the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) and as a senior fitness personal trainer by the American Senior Fitness Association (SFA). Through Exercise Etc., she also achieved specialist designation in Senior Fitness, Boot Camp Gold, and Brains and Balance Past 60™. In addition, she is certified in basic nutrition by NPTI. Her passion for helping seniors lead healthy lives was the driving force behind her decision to become a personal trainer. Her goal is to help them build and maintain a level of functional fitness that will allow them to remain independent so they can continue to do the activities they love.

Dana has enjoyed working with senior adults both professionally and as a volunteer since 2006. She has worked for GeriatriCare Management, Inc., since moving to Virginia in 2012. She holds a BA degree from New Mexico State University, became a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) in 2008, and completed a Professional Advancement in Gerontology program through the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2010.

Pet Therapy Dog, retired

We are very proud to announce the newest addition to our Care Management team! Cotonbrie Gran Bob Marley II, otherwise known as “Marley,” is a Coton de Tulear that was born in Milan, Italy, in May 2012. The Coton de Tulear is an amazing rare breed of companion-class dogs that originated on the island of Madagascar, where they were bred for several centuries for their gentleness, temperament, and appearance. They are frequently used as therapy dogs and have brought happiness to people with medical problems, older adults, and those who need unconditional love. Cotons have a lot of love to give, and what better thing to do than share their love with people in need of some warm affection from man’s best friend? Marley often accompanies Stephanie Thomopoulos when making visits to her clients.

Ginger Fletcher

Care Manager Assistant/Friendly Visitor

Ginger is an experienced event professional with more than 20 years of project management, logistics, and stakeholder relations expertise, born and raised in Virginia and deeply rooted in the local community. She has coordinated everything from large-scale conferences and galas to intimate staff gatherings, always with an emphasis on hospitality, clear communication, and calm, solutions-focused support.

Over the years, Ginger has also devoted significant time to serving her community as both a long-term senior caregiver and a school and neighborhood volunteer, offering practical help, companionship, and encouragement to people of all ages. This blend of professional event experience and hands-on caregiving has shaped her warm, approachable style as a friendly visitor, where she enjoys listening to life stories, providing a reassuring presence, and helping individuals feel seen, valued, and connected.

She holds a BBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management, graduating summa cum laude, along with multiple professional certifications in meeting and event management, leadership, and customer experience. Whether she is supporting an organization’s programs or spending one-on-one time with an older adult, Ginger’s goal is to create moments that feel welcoming, respectful, and tailored to the unique needs of each person she meets.
