Evaluation for Guardianship & Conservatorship
Stephanie Thomopoulos, BCD, LCSW, completes a comprehensive mental health assessment to determine whether an individual is incapacitated and in need of a guardian or conservator. A thorough review of the client’s presenting circumstances and events is reviewed, and those familiar with the client’s overall situation are interviewed (as permitted by the responsible party). The evaluation takes place in the client’s home environment and includes a comprehensive mental status examination. Ms. Thomopoulos is licensed to perform the Brief Cognitive Assessment Toll (BCAT).
A detailed report includes the client’s precipitating events, a summary of physical and cognitive impairments, areas of strengths/challenges, a list of current medications, and impressions/recommendations. The report generated may be used in guardianship conservatorship hearings. Stephanie Thomopoulos has served as an expert witness in geriatric services in Virginia and Maryland.
